The ‘20 in 20’ series takes a deep dive into each of the 20 teams competing at the historic World Selects Trophy in Nashville, Tennessee on June 28th. This 15U tournament is set to feature the best players in the age group from around the world with players from the U.S., Canada and Europe. Today, we take a closer look at Elite Hockey Group.

ELITE HOCKEY GROUP

A spring/summer training group and tournament team, Elite Hockey Group (EHG) has produced NHL players such as John Carlson, Charlie McAvoy, Kevin Labanc, Zach Aston-Reese and Adam Erne. Established in 2006, EHG has helped place many of the top players from the Northeastern U.S. onto top teams and leagues like the National Team Development Program (NTDP), USHL, CHL, NCAA and NHL.

It is an invite-only program where participants compete in top tournaments throughout the spring and summer months. Bob Thornton is a part of the Orr4Hockey Agency, and is the director of the 15O, 16U and 18U Westchester Express in addition to his role with EHG.

The World Selects tournament team holds true to the region, consisting of players from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. Much of the team played together during the USA Hockey winter season, and a trio of forwards from the Westchester Express are expected to make a significant impact this summer for EHG.

Joseph Delaurentis, Luke Sansobrino and Ryan Conroy combined to score nearly 200 points for Westchester. Delaurentis up the middle is a potential pro prospect with excellent edge work and a well-rounded 200-foot game. Sansobrino has a stellar scorer’s touch and is coming off of a 50-goal season for the Express. Conroy provides the motor for the top line as a heavy forechecker and a pest below the hash marks.
